Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has revealed the fear of injury is haunting him at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
Gyan is playing at the tournament after overcoming a thigh strain aided by the hoarse placenta treatment of Serbian therapist Mariana Kovacevic.
The treatment was hailed as a success by Gyan but he now says he has been far from match fit in the competition so far and says the pain in his leg is getting worse.
Gyan has a solitary goal in the competition from a brilliant free kick but his running and hold up play has been generally off colour even though he hopes there is still time for him to improve.
"As at now it has been frustrating for somebody like me but I don't blame myself," he told Ghanasoccernet.
"My fitness level, like anytime I go to the field I feel very heavy in my legs and I feel like anytime I spin I am going to get injured or something.
"So I am just trying harder and harder but I think it is alright and let's hope for the next game.
"If Ghana wins I think everybody is happy, it has been really difficult for me at this moment but I think I will get over it."
Ghana's options on the bench though are limited and Gyan is likely to be thrust back in action for the semi-final meeting with Zambia on Wednesday.
