As the police CID question the alleged quack plastic surgeon of the Obengfo Hospital at Weija in Accra, family of a man who died at that hospital has petitioned the Medical and Dental Council to investigate the doctor. Joy FM’s investigation has revealed that Dr Dominic Obeng-Andoh has not been licensed to operate as a surgeon. The investigation also revealed that Dr Obeng-Andoh was last year handed a three year suspension by the Medical and Dental Council, which he has appealed. Many victims of Dr Andoh’s operations have told Joy FM their harrowing experiences at the hospital. One of them is the widow of 47-year-old Rex Fafa Dagoe, who died at the hospital in March this year. Stell Dogoe narrating how her husband died to Joy News said she was informed by the late husband that he had an appointment with the doctor on 7th March and was going for a medical checkup. She noted that she was not too convinced about that because she saw the husband as “strong, fit man” and was “not sick anywhere”. She said this prompted her to question him what the checkup was for, and also insisted to go with him. According to her, the husband drove to the Obengfo Hospital himself looking “strong”. She said the surgery was scheduled for 7pm on March 7 but later rescheduled for 3 am the following day, but it was eventually carried out around 5 am. She had to go home and attend to the children but when she returned later, she suspected something was wrong because no one was willing to tell her where the husband was. A brother of the deceased, Gayhard Dogoe described to Joy News how the body was when they eventually found him in one of the rooms of the Obengfo hospital. He said they found him in a pool of blood, and noticed that he had “three opening”: two on the side and one at the umbilical cord. He suspected that something might have been “inserted” into him. Meanwhile, the family has petitioned the Medical and Dental Council to investigate the matter further.
