The Eastern Regional Council of the Health Workers Group (HWG) has called on its members to continue working pending the outcome of the Job Evaluation Appeals Committee (JEAC) report.
The Council has therefore appealed to the JEAC to ensure that its final report is submitted by the end of March in line with the ruling of the National labour Commission.
The Council warned that its members would not entertain any extension of time anymore.
This was contained in a resolution adopted at an emergency meeting of the Eastern Regional Council of the HWG held in Koforidua.
It was copied to the Minister of Health and other sector Ministers and made available to the Ghana News Agency on Friday.
The resolution observed that, the group, having examined the interim report of the JEAC, which concluded that the principle of equal pay for work of equal value was not strictly followed in the design of the two pay scales for Doctors and Directors as well as members of the HWG.
That the placement of all jobs on the new pay scale based on the above principle was necessary and that the two pay scales was not done based on the job evaluation scores, but rather a pre-determined and arbitrary "soft factors".
It said the group would reject any recommendation for a peace-meal or gradual upward adjustment of salaries because it had already waited for over a year for the resolution of the issues raised.
The group demanded that the effective date for the correction of the distortions and the payment of the arrears should take effect from January 1, 2006.
The group resolve that all health workers due for promotion should be promoted while those who retired since June 2006 and were neither receiving salaries nor pension, should be paid quickly based on the current inconclusive salary structure pending the implementation of the correct pay structure.
