Visiting Heart of Lions handed Hearts of Oak a one nil defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday as Asante Kotoko also slumped to a one nil defeat at the hands of league leaders Berekum Chelsea.
Emmanuel Clottey scored the only goal in a match touted by pandits as the top liner for the weekend. The goal came after Clottey robbed Kotoko midfielder Frank Boateng of the ball in the Kotoko half of the pitch and played a one-two with Abdul Basit before slotting the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Isaac Amoako.
This means Berekum Chelsea has taken a 12 point lead on the league table.
In another highly anticipated game at the Accra Sports Stadium, Gilbert Fiamenyoh handed Hearts of Lions all the three points in another encounter that saw both sides miss numerous chances. Probably the Phobians' woes are far from over.
At the Essipong Sports Stadium in Sekondi, Medeama FC defeated Real Tamale United by two goals to nil. The two sides ended the game with ten men on each side. RTU skipper Tawfique Alolo was shown the red card as Medeama's Otuo Acheampong was also given the matching orders.
