A hunting expedition by a group of young men at Dansereso near Breku in the Asante-Akim South District ended tragically when one of them mistook, Obeng Agyei, a colleague for a game and shot him in the process.
Obeng Agyei died later from the gunshot wounds.
The suspect, Enoch Tetteh, who appeared before a circuit court at Juaso, presided over by Mr Justice S.K. Sarpong-Appiah, on a provisional charge of murder, has been remanded in prison custody.
Tetteh, whose plea was not taken, would re-appear at court on Friday, May 5.
The docket on the case had been forwarded to the Attorney General's Department for advice.
Police Detective Inspector Emmanuel Ofori told the court that both the suspect and the deceased were farmers at Dansereso.
According to the prosecution, on April 2 at about 0100 hours, the two together with six others in a group went for hunting near the Breku Forest.
Insp. Ofori said during the expedition, Tetteh shot at Agyei, who died while he was been sent to the hospital.
The suspect was arrested after a report was made to the Police at Kantanso.
