Mr George Smith-Graham, Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), said on Friday that institutions seeking re-evaluation would have to pay for that service.
He said this had become necessary in view of the losses the FWSC was incurring in re-evaluating workers for placement on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS).
Mr Smith-Graham was speaking in an interview with the GNA at a durbar for teachers and education workers in Ho.
He said such financial losses were affecting the Commission hence the decision.
Mr Smith-Graham said Single Spine may not be a panacea to workers problems but could go a long way to move public sector pay to an acceptable level if managed well.
He said the Commission was “compressing and removing overlaps” and negotiating premiums and inducements to better the salaries under the SSSS.
Meanwhile, some workers the GNA spoke with said the decision for institutions to pay for re-evaluation could become a barrier to rectifying anomalies that might have come with the implementation of the SSSS.
