Ghana has seen yet another innovation in the media landscape – an information technology newspaper has been launched.
The newspaper, IT Updates, published by IT firm, Leda Systems Ltd., was launched on Tuesday at the British Council in Accra.
The newspaper primarily aims to bridge the digital divide by providing access to information and communication technologies.
The Computer Users Club (CUC) of Ghana was also inaugurated at the same event.
In an address read on his behalf, the Minister of Communication, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu said, “technology has the power to transform lives, but access to it is often blocked by lack of relevant information, ignorance, language barriers, economic factors and political restrictions,” adding, “The ability to access information and transform it into meaningful and useful knowledge is a key driver of sustainable social and economic development.”
Mr. Edward Danso, the CEO of Leda Systems said the IT Updates Newspaper and CUC are to serve as an incubator where new young graduates, entrepreneurs and in fact the general public can be nurtured.
Following the events, a one-day ICT Career Fair to expose participants to existing opportunities in the ICT sector was held for participants.
