General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu condemned the violent incident which occurred during the start of the Bono East Regional Delegates Conference at the Atebubu Training College.
The incident saw persons believed to be bodyguards of the Atebubu-Amanteng Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Edward Ofori clash with the party’s internal security at that at the College.
The party’s internal security denied entry of the MCE’s bodyguards into the assembly hall, which led to fisticuffs between the two.
It took the intervention of the police and military to restore calm to kick start the conference.
Mr Boadu, who was incensed over the incident, charged the party at the regional level to ensure such an incident does not recur.
“The incident which happened at the start of the conference is awful. NPP is not a violent party. The founders of the party did not resort to violence. I hope the region will ensure this incident not recur ever again in the history of the party," he said.
The Regional Chairman of the party Thomas Adu Appiah on his part, assured the leadership of the party that all internal issues would be resolves to curtail a recurrence of such incidents in the future.
