The Independent Presidential Candidate, Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah has suspended his campaign for four days to mourn the sudden demise of former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
Mr Mahama died after a short illness at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Friday.
Mr Yeboah, who told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Kumasi on Saturday, said that he was shocked and dumb founded to hear the news.
He said Alhaji Mahama was a man, who served Ghana with humility, faithfulness and with a sense of humour that would always be remembered.
The Independent Presidential Candidate said, “Indeed Ghana has lost great figure”.
Meanwhile, he indicated that his Campaign Coordinator, Mr Twum Barimah had already signed the book of condolence on his behalf and hoped that he (late Mahama) would enter into the bosom of God.
Alhaji Mahama served as Vice President for eight years under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration from 2001 to 2009.
He died at the age of 66 and left behind a wife and five children.
