Jacob Boon, a Circuit Court Judge at Juaso in the Asante-Akim South District, has ordered the police at Obogu to take steps to prosecute one Dorcas Osei, a complainant in a case pending before the court for having instigated the commission of a crime.
According to Mr Boon, the prosecution of Kwabena Ohemeng, who was standing trial for causing unlawful harm could partly be blamed on Dorcas and must not be allowed to escape unpunished.
Ohemeng, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, had been granted bail in the sum of 20 million cedis with one surety.
Police Chief Inspector Benjamin Amoah told the court that the complainant and Ohemeng were relativeS and lived in the same house at Obogu.
He said on April 16, this year around 23.30 hours, the complainant who was then returning from town overheard the accused and two other friends discussing excessive drinking at the entrance of the house.
According to the prosecution, moments after the complainant passed by the accused and his friends into the house, she re-emerged with her mother in an angry mood accusing the three of casting insinuations at Dorcas' mother.
Chief Inspector Amoah said the situation resulted into a heated argument between the accused and his friends on one side and the complainant and her mother on the other.
As the argument raged on, Dorcas rushed into the house and returned later wielding a kitchen knife with which she slashed Ohemeng on the head and ear after which she threw the knife away and ran into the house.
The prosecutor said Ohemeng then picked the knife, pursued Dorcas and stabbed her in the stomach.
While the complainant was rushed to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital, Ohemeng reported the case to the police at Obogu. The police issued him with a medical form to attend hospital.
He, however, returned later only to be arrested and charged with the offence the prosecution added.
