The Christian Council of Ghana is backing calls for reforms in the country after a video exposé on rot in the judiciary.
The judicial system was hit by a bribery scandal this month following a two-year investigation into corruption in the judiciary by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas. 12 judges of the High Court, 22 Circuit Court judges and magistrates, court officials and police officers were caught on camera allegedly taking bribe.
According to the General Secretary of the Christian Council, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, the nation is bleeding because of the decadence in society and therefore change must be enforced in the church and the judiciary “even if it will cost us our blood”.
Making his submission on the topic “Hypocrisy in the Church” on Joy FM’s Christian talk show, A WALK WITH JESUS on Sunday night, Rev. Opuni-Frimpong said “we must accept that this country needs reformation. Almost every sector of this country at the moment is calling for change”
According to him, the Chief Justice must enforce change in the legal fraternity and the church must also sit up to ensure the moral reformation the country is calling for does not elude us.
The General Secretary opined that “If you are a head or a pastor and people are paying your rent, paying generator, fuel for you and you are so comfortable to the point that you are not conscious of where the church in this country is heading, I want to disturb your peace.”
Rev. Opuni insisted: “President Mahama must give us a legacy that by the time he is leaving office soundness in politics is ensured. We need that legacy from him.”
