The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has taken delivery of 300 boxes of immune boosters for frontline health workers.

According to available statistics to the Nursing and Midwifery, 800 members of the association have been infected by the covid-19 since 2020, while three have died in the process.

Acting Director, Nursing and Midwifery at the Ministry of Health, Dr Barbabas Kwame Yeboah, says the frontline workers have been exposed to many non-communicable diseases.

“…because of the situation, in some institutions we have critical shortage of the nurses and midwifes, because sometimes we have to close down some departments in some institutions when there are suspected cases and this has really affected the nurses and midwives. In fact they are overstretched”.

The hospital has therefore received immune boosters -HEPA PLUS- from Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult.

Authorities of KATH say the products will be given to health professionals at the frontline of the fight against the COVID-19.

CEO of the Hospital, Dr Oheneba Owusu Danso, who received the items explained boosting one’s immune system is critical in these times.

“I think this donation is timely, I will handover to head of nursing services to ensure that those who are in readily critical need and are confronting the fight against covid-19 will get a bottle each and I am sure will have more subsequently”.

Meanwhile, management of the KATH and representatives from the Ministry of Health urged the frontline health workers to take such drugs (immune boosters such as Hepa Plus mixture) to boost their immune system as the country’s COVID-19 cases continue to rise.

“As I speak, I am even taking it myself and I can testify that this is a good product that can, I will encourage all our nurses and midwives to take it and see the good thing it can do as far as boost your immune system. We all know that when covid-19 came everyone is trying to find something that can help all of us, and I think Hepa Plus is among the good ones that we can use”, Dr Barbabas Kwame Yeboah, added.

CEO of Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult, Ebenezer Agyemang, on his part, emphasized the need for government to support the herbal industry.

Another set of 100 bottles had earlier been given to the GA West Regional Hospital.
