The Board Chairman of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in the Greater Accra region, Professor Titus Beyuo, has attributed the persistent challenges in the country’s health sector, including the ongoing no-bed syndrome, to a lack of consistent investment.

Professor Beyuo made the remarks while discussing the recent incident at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where the unavailability of a hospital bed contributed to the death of an accident victim.

He emphasised that inadequate funding continues to hinder the capacity of major health facilities across the country.

Speaking on Joy FM Super Morning Show on Tuesday, 24th March, he stressed that "When I contributed to this same challenge in parliament, I did state that it has systemic and structural challenges, and this has been a result of lack of consistent investment over the years," he said.

"It is unfortunate that this keeps recurring," he added.

The Board Chairman called for sustained government and stakeholder commitment to improving infrastructure and resources to prevent similar tragedies in the future. He added that he is optimistic about the government's will to solve it.

"I can confirm authoritatively that the Government is taking steps to solve the situation," he said.
