Kotoko chairman: The fans must trust management

In an apparent reaction to the manner in which some Kotoko fans react whenever they hear any thing being said about the club, Chairman Sylvester Asare-Owusu has appealed to the teeming supporters of the club to have absolute confidence in his management since their commitment to developing the country's greatest football club was unadulterated. The Chairman said it was wrong for supporters of the club to jump into accusing management members just as they hear something being said about the club. He advised the supporters to verify some of the things they hear for instance by calling the Kotoko Express offices. Sylvester Asare-Owusu made this appeal on Friday when the Kotoko Express contacted him over reports that Nigerian import Obisessah Abiodun and his manager were in Accra in search of a new club because Kotoko had showed no serious interest but was merely using the player. The Kotoko Chairman debunked those claims saying, "I don't know why some of our supporters do not have a little confidence in us; they believe anything they hear and accuse us of not performing. There must be an end to this attitude," he stated. According to the Kotoko Express, some radio stations last week Thursday and Friday alleged that Obisessah Abiodun and his Ghanaian manager were unhappy with the way the Kotoko management was treating them. The reports had it that Obi’s manager was contemplating giving his player to another club. The story which was given the characteristic sensational colour, spread like wild fire causing discomfort for most supporters who called into some radio sports programmes to lambast the management. Incidentally, the Kotoko Express said when it contacted the Chairman, he was engaged in a serious meeting with Obi's manager over the player's stay at Kotoko. The Chairman told the Kotoko Express that those reports on radio had no basis since Kotoko was bent on signing the Nigerian footballer. He dismissed allegations of non-performance against his management in the area of player recruitment and stressed that Kotoko's recruitment exercise had been better than that of any other club.
