The Ashanti Central Police District Command, has arrested four teachers for allegedly printing answers of the Information Certificate Technology (ICT) objective papers.
The incident happened at the on-going Basic Education Certificate Education for candidates in the Ahenema-Kokoben D/A Junior High School (JHS) Centre.
Emmanuel Opoku, 29, Mathematics teacher, Collins Boateng,24, Religious and Moral Education teacher, Kenneth Kwadwo Boateng,25, French and ICT teacher all from the Ahenema-Kokoben D/A JHS and Osei Kwadwo Danso, 32, an invigilator at the Centre, were arrested on Friday while in the process of printing the answers in a house.
The police retrieved a photocopier machine, a laptop and a set of discs.
Police Chief Inspector Godwin Atsu Ahianyo, Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer told Ghana News Agency that at about 0940 hours on that fateful day, police received information that answers to the ICT objective papers were being printed in a house at Ahenema-Kokoben, near the Pentecost Church.
The police proceeded to the place where Opoku, Kenneth and Collins, were arrested in the room belonging to one Edward Fosu, also a teacher of the school.
Chief Inspector Ahianyo said a search on Collins revealed GH₵ 600.00, which he confessed was payment by some of the candidates, to aid them to write the paper. A further search revealed photocopies of handwritten answers to 40 questions of the ICT paper.
Chief Inspector Ahianyo said, Collins mentioned Danso, who is also a teacher at the Dida D/A JHS near Agric- Nzema and who invigilating at the Ahenema-Kokoben Centre as the source. He was also arrested.
He said the supervisor at the Centre, Mr Seth Kwabena Amponsah and his Deputy, Mr James Kwame Nsiah have been invited for investigations.
Chief Inspector Ahianyo said, the police are currently liaising with the Regional Office of West African Examination Council for further action
