An alleged armed robber, Emmanuel Quarshie, who led his gang to rob former Black Stars player Laryea Kingston in 2009, was finally nabbed at his hideout in Accra on Monday, March 19,2012.
“Officers from the Accra Regional Police Command arrested the robbery gang leader who is also known as Crazy Born or Okoro at Nungua where he mostly operated.
During the raiding of the footballer’s house, Okoro, a resident of Kasoa in the Central Region, and his gang allegedly subjected the occupants of the house to severe beatings, resulting in the loss of an eye of the security man at the house.
The Regional Crime Officer, Emmanuel Frank Adufati, said Okoro had been on police wanted list for a while for several robberies.
He narrated how Okoro and his gang members robbed a pregnant woman dealing in credit cards at Nungua of an unspecified amount of money.
Okoro however told police that his share of the booty was GH¢1800 and mentioned his accomplices as Essien, Muntaka and Teye.
In the same year; Okoro, 23, and his gang stormed another house at Adogon last stop and robbed the said house of an unspecified amount of money and three mobile phones.
Okoro is said to have confessed to five different robberies at Teshie-Nungua and its environs.
