A not-for-profit organization, The Light Foundation, has launched an Ebola educational campaign to bolster awareness of the disease and preventive measures in event Ghana records any case.
This awareness campaign, according to the organization, will be done by providing critical community based education and sensitization programs, starting with communities along the Western, Eastern and Northern borders of the country.
It includes organizing public forums, distribution of educational leaflets and hand sanitizers.
Employment and Labour Relation Minister, Haruna Idrisu, who launched the campaign, highlighted the need for everyone to join the fight in keeping the country free from the deadly epidemic.

According to the minister, the country must be thankful to God for keeping the disease away from us, adding that “we must also remain vigilant and continue propagating the awareness campaign to ensure the goal of Ghana becoming Ebola free is achieved”.
Citing the popular adage, ‘Cleanliness is next to godliness,’ Mr. Idrisu reiterated the importance of personal hygiene and asked Ghanaians to observe it.
The minister said Border Control Agents must intensify their efforts to save the nation from the Ebola scourge, which has caused havoc in other parts of the continent.
Latest figures released by the World Health Organization suggests that the total cases had risen to 3069, with 1552 deaths in four West African countries including Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
On Thursday, WHO predicted the disease could afflict more than 20,000 – almost seven times the current number of reported cases - efore it could be brought under control.
