President John Mahama has described his almost five months in office as "turbulent and a baptism of fire".Speaking to the BBC’s Farray Mungazi from France Wednesday afternoon, President Mahama said he did not have the peace to put in place needed structures to conduct the affairs of the country.The Mahama administration has been dogged by an energy crisis, slow economic growth and waves of industrial unrest with teachers, doctors and other professional going on strike.He says these challenges have taken his full attention as he works to fix them.Speaking on the ongoing election petition at the Supreme Court, President Mahama said he is confident the court is capable of doing a satisfactory job, and “I am doing my job”.He was emphatic that has in no way been distracted by the court hearing.The petitioners are in court claiming that the extent of irregularities that occurred during the 2012 election was enough to affect the outcome of the eventual results.But President has categorically stressed “I know I didn’t rig the election”.
