Chairman of the National Association of Charismatic Churches, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has charged President John Mahama to seek the face of God in order to move the nation in the right direction.
He said the late President’s indelible legacies of humility, servant leadership, tenacity and peace will serve as the bedrock for the country’s democracy.
According to him, President Mahama must do everything in his capacity to unite the nation and ensure continuity.
“I pray for him that he will be courageous. And I pray he will seek the wisdom of God in times like this, that he has the capacity to do whatever he has to do, he will keep the unity of the people of this country…I believe he will do a good job.”
Archbishop Duncan-Williams described President Mills’ death as regrettable, not only to Ghana but the entire continent.
He said he is sad but angry at the demise.
“I met him some few weeks ago, and I must say he is not one that was afraid of dying, he wasn’t afraid to die. He has a strong confidence in God because he knew where he stood with God and he knew where he will be in eternity. I think he was more concerned about fulfilling his assignment for the people of Ghana.”
In a related development, a leading member of the CPP, Bright Akwetey has described the late President Mills as a peerless statesman especially because of his level of tolerance.
He is therefore calling for a day to celebrate the life of President Mills and a legacy in his honor.
“He is a peerless statesman; that patience that he had, I don’t see how many presidents exhibiting that patience. We should look for an occasion to really celebrate him, and get a legacy for him not just in the annals of the history of this country, but a particular structure named after him, which will make Ghanaians remember him as the president who tolerated so much and did not react, that was the source of his strength… you insult him, he doesn’t insult you back.”
