President John Mahama has cast his vote in the Bole Bamboi constituency of the Northern Region dressed in a sporty Lacoste shirt with the number “one” embroidered on the breast, back and on both shoulders.
The president occupies the number one position on the ballot paper as he vies for his first full term in office.
He voted at approximately 1415 GMT and was impressed by the enthusiasm that Ghanaians have displayed during this year’s voting exercise.
He told the media in a short interview that Bole Bamboi has always been a safe seat for the governing National Democratic Congress and 2012 will be no exception.
He said he is voting for the sixth time but this time around, he’s doing it in the capacity of president of the republic.
President Mahama urged all qualified voters to cast their votes, quipping that the price the wise pay for not exercising their right to vote is to be governed by the unwise.
