President John Mahama has pledged to complete the development projects started in the Volta Region by the late President John Mills. He has also vowed to pay a visit to the region to crown the nationwide tour started by the late president. He said these when the Volta Region House of Chiefs paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Wednesday to commiserate with him on the loss of the former president and to congratulate him on his ascension to the high office of the president. John Mahama revealed it was the wish of his former boss to visit the region adding, even after his return from the US where he underwent a medical check-up, the late president had eagerly wanted to visit the Volta Region until he passed on. He stated the university project in the region was on the heart of the late president and he will ensure that the university project and others in the region are completed. With the late president completing nine of the nationwide tours, President John Mahama said he will complete the tour, assuring the “visit will be the last but not the least.” Leader of the delegation Tobgbui Afede XIV said the late president had some unfulfilled business and was hopeful President John Mahama will complete it. “It is so sad that our beloved president has left us at this hour. He has left us with some unfinished business in the Volta Region and some unfinished business in the entire nation. “We know he so much wanted to see the progress of our region,” a reason why he included the northern part of the Volta Region in the SADA project. “We have been expecting him to visit the Volta Region as part of his national tour of the whole country. All the gifts we have bought to present to him and his wife are still waiting to find a place in their new home. “Once again we take consolation in the fact that we have you,” he said. Earlier the Greater Accra Region House of Chiefs also paid a visit to the new president to lend their support and pay tribute to the former president. John Mahama expressed commitment his government will help resolve the chieftaincy disputes in the region.
