The Osu District Magistrate Court has sentenced 35-year-old Nana Osei Tutu Agyeman, a resident of Kumasi to 12 months in prison for serving a forged writ of summons on his former employers. Nana Osei Tutu Agyeman, a former employee of ATS Group of Companies, was dismissed from the company after a stealing incident he was involved in. But in anger, Mr Agyeman managed to forge a writ of summons purporting to be coming from the Commercial Division of the Kumasi High Court and served it on lawyers of his former employers. Lawyers of ATS Group of Company who suspected the writ of summons on the judicial service letterhead was fictitious reported the case to the Osu police. During investigations, Nana Agyeman claimed the writ of summons was given to him by his lawyers who were in Kumasi. But after police accompanied him to Kumasi, his alleged lawyer could not be found. After further investigations, he was arrested and arraigned before the Osu District Magistrate Court and charged 50 penalty points – which translates into GHS 600 or 12 months imprisonment. Nana Agyeman is currently serving a 12 months sentence at the Nsawam prison since he could not present the GHS 600.00.
