Police in the Central Region have begun investigations into the alleged murder of a three year old child by his own father.
Residents of Assin Gangan remain in shock following news of the murder of the child.
They accuse the 24-year old father of beheading his own baby in the bush. The man whose name was not given is said to have abandoned his wife after she gave birth but returned to take possession of the baby.
A resident of Assin Gangan told Joy News, the accused after taking the baby from the mother, went straight into the bush and severed the boy’s head.
After the grisly act, he reported his action to some residents who immediately pounced on him.
The resident said, the accused was saved from being lynched by some residents who took him to the police station.
The Divisional Crime Officer of Assin Fosu, ASP Emmanuel Basintale said the suspect would be arraigned before court.
ASP Basintale said his men together with residents escorted the suspect to the bush and retrieved the body which has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
