Daniel Anyidoho, a mason, has been remanded in prison custody by a Hohoe Circuit court for posing as a public officer.
He was again charged for defrauding by false pretence.
Anyidoho pleaded not guilty to the charges and will reappear on April 12.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Benjamin Dadzie told the court that the complainant was robbed of his personal effects and reported the incident to the Police on January 27.
He said Anyidoho approached the complainant and introduced himself as Detective Nartey of Police Criminal Investigations Department detailed to assist him in apprehending the culprit.
Mr Dadzie said Anyidoho demanded some money from the complainant and received GHc 35.00 to kick-start investigations and went into hiding but police tracked him down and arrested him.
