Morocco and Hungary, marking 65 years of diplomatic ties, have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their partnership for mutual development.
This was highlighted in a joint statement issued on Wednesday following a meeting between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó.
The ministers emphasized the historical and strategic importance of their relationship, commending the recent momentum in bilateral ties.
They also discussed promoting regular political consultations and welcomed the high-level talks held in April 2024 between Hungary’s Prime Minister and Morocco’s Head of Government in Marrakech.
The meeting underscored the growing cooperation between the two nations, exemplified by the 5th Joint Economic Commission hosted in Rabat on October 30, 2024.
This commission has been pivotal in enhancing bilateral ties and exploring new opportunities for economic partnership.
Both countries agreed to strengthen collaboration across various sectors, including the economy, agriculture, food industry, renewables, automotive industry, culture, education, research, innovation, sports, and tourism.
They also highlighted advancements in scientific research and innovation and praised the success of their student mobility programs.
Morocco’s enhanced partnership with Hungary aligns with its broader strategy to diversify international collaborations, reaffirming its role as a key partner for European countries.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the health sector, further expanding the scope of bilateral cooperation.
