Akosua Asaa Manu was speaking on JoyNews' PM Express with host Evans Mensah about her political ambition

NPP parliamentary aspirant for Adentan Constituency, Akosua Asaa Manu, says she is looking forward to making an impact in the lives of her constituents when given the nod to lead the party and the constituency.

According to her, while she had not been keen to join mainstream politics, her stint with the first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, taught her how politics can be used to solve problems in a people-centric manner.

She said this people-centered political ethos has characterised her life and work both in private and public and she looks forward to centering the people of Adenta when given the nod.

“My first exposure would be running for SRC secretary when I was in Legon, University of Ghana. And I always say that experience is literally a subset of what we observe on the larger political platform which is national politics.

“After that there was no real interest in doing full time politics, but in 2016 through volunteering I came into contact with her excellency Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and I had the utmost pleasure and of course the blessing of having worked with her.

“And I would say that most of what I’ve learnt in the past couple of years has to do with how she addresses issues or solves problems and it sort of gave me an idea of how to actually do the politics and be people-centered.

“And for me that is always what it’s been for me if you go through my private life and what I did even in business, I like to engage in things that had direct impact with people. And I think its an extra icing on the cake if you have done something privately and its impactful, it’s easier to transition to do impactful things in public service,” she said.
