The prosecution team has withdrawn the charges against the four arrested persons brought before the Fiapre Circuit Court in connection with the stabbing to death of Francis Yaw Frimpong [Nana Pooley] at Nsoatre.
Nana Pooley was stabbed on the 2nd of February 2025 at Nana Kromansah Park at Twumasikrom near Nsoatre, in the Bono Region, when Nsoatreman FC hosted Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a Ghana Premier League match.
Isaac Fosu, 28 years; Yeboah Augustine, 35 years; Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwa (AKOSUA BLACK CHINESE) 37years, and Yaa Asantewaa 37years, were charged with ABETMENT OF CRIME TO WIT; MURDER; CONTRARY TO SECTIONS 20(1) AND 46 OF THE CRIMINAL OFFENCES ACT OF 1960, (ACT 29).
Two others, Briamah (Rasta) and Yaw Koshy, charged with the same offense are at large, with Briamah facing an additional Murder charge; CONTRARY TO SECTION 46 OF THE CRIMINAL OFFENCES ACT OF 1960 (ACT 29)
The four arrested were denied bail on Friday, 7th February 2025. According to Her Honour, Akua Addae Adoma, the Fiapre Circuit Court is out of jurisdiction since the issue at stake is a felony case.
The suspects were, however, asked to remain in police custody and reappear on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 9 AM.
But the prosecutor, Inspector Alexander Oppong, asked to withdraw the charges against the accused persons, to which Her Honour, Aku Addae Adoma, at the Fiapre circuit court struck the case out as withdrawn by the prosecution.
Meanwhile, the prosecution team at the Bono Regional Police Headquarters is preparing to return to the Sunyani District Court.
The Ghana Police Service has so far arrested 7 people, with two, including Nsoatreman FC owner and former Sunyani West MP Ignatius Baffour Awauh, granted bail to reappear on 17th February 2025.
