About 150 branch executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress in the New Juaben South Constituency of the Eastern Region, have crossed carpet to the newly formed National Democratic Party.
The branch executives were drawn from 60 branches in the constituency and are expected to pull more of the NDC members who are dissatisfied with the performance of the Mills-Mahama administration.
A spokesperson of the group and the branch chairman for upper Roman Catholic Primary School at Koforidua Srodae, Paul Boakye Agyapong popularly known as King Paul told Adomonline.com that, “the end of the NDC is the beginning of the NDP”.
He noted that, the group had no option than to put their shoulders to the wheel to support the NDP and save Ghana from the poor and abysmal performance of the Mills-Mahama administration.
He said the principles of June 4th that is probity, accountability and social justice which formed the basis for the formation of NDC, had been betrayed by leadership of the party.
“Some of us are in the NDC because we share in the vision and mission of President J.J Rawlings, the NDC has lost its value and principles, we no longer have integrity, corruption and propaganda is the order of the day for NDC. I’m sorry we cannot go down with them. We will join NDP and redeem the lost value our leaders died for”. King Paul noted.
He said they will mobilize more members in the New Juaben South Constituency and present a parliamentary candidate who will partner the flagbearere and canvass for massive vote for the NDP.
