The National Democratic Congress (NDC) yesterday presented copies of the braille version of the party's manifesto to the Ghana Association for the Blind at the Rehabilitation Centre in Accra. The move forms part of the effort by the NDC to get its message across to every section of the electorate ahead of the December poll. Dr. Kwabena Adjei, chairman of the NDC who made the presentation of 30copies of the braille manifesto, said the NDC, when elected back to office would create a special desk at the Ministry of Manpower and Employment, to see to the needs of the vulnerable in the society. "We are here to show the NDC’s commitment towards making sure that everybody in our society becomes part of the change we are yearning for." He said that the NDC as a social democratic party, prioritizes the welfare of the disabled, vulnerable and the poor, saying "we believe that in a society such as ours we should do our best to help one another especially the vulnerable". "We should support the marginalized, poor, disadvantaged and the disabled and the NDC manifesto encourages you to hold us accountable if we renege on our promise to attend to your needs. "NDC policies do not look down on the disadvantage. We rather look down to lift you up," he said. Dr Adjei said that partisanship in the country was retarding development and the effort to make the country a better place to live in, saying "the NDC will encourage participatory democracy". He asked them to help the NDC to form the next government to enable them to accomplish the mission of transforming the country into a social democratic status. Peter Obeng Asamoah, Director of the Ghana Association of the Blind, who received the copies on behalf of the association said "we feel remembered and hope that this will make us be part of the electoral process".
