A Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Mr Evans Aggrey Darko has cautioned against playing the ethnic card before the presidential run-off on December 28.
Playing tribal politics can have dire consequences for the country.
He told Joy News’ Evans Mensah that it would be dangerous either Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP of Prof. Mills of the NDC to whip up ethnic sentiments as they seek to win the second round of voting.
He said the poor showing of the NPP was attributable to complacency, adding that it would be difficult for the party to reverse the trend in run-off.
He predicts the NDC will say the country will become ungovernable of Nana Akufo-Addo wins the election even though he disagrees with such a position.
Mr. Mensah believes the reasonable successes chalked up by the NDC at the parliamentary elections could boost the chances of the NDC.
That, he said was because the MPs-elect will be energised to campaign vigorously for the NDC.
For him, president Kufuor can help Nana Akufo-Addo win the elections if he plays a more proactive role this time around.
He advised the NPP should apologise to their supporters whom they would hurt in one way or the other and encourage them to come out and vote.
