Deputy Propaganda Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Solomon Nkansah says the leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are the biggest beneficiaries of the Better Ghana Agenda.
He claimed that leading members of the NPP have gained weight and are now driving in huge vehicles due to the unprecedented economic growth chalked by the Mills-led administration in just three and half years.
Solomon Nkansah made these observations on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, while commenting on the latest survey conducted by US-based polling agency, Gallup, which attributed 57% approval ratings in the country to President John Evans Atta Mills.
The poll also ranked President Mills the 24th best performing head of state in Africa out of 34 presidents in the sub-region.
Elated by the poll, Solomon Nkansah said President Mills has no competitor ahead of the December general elections.
He predicted a landslide victory for the President - who faces a stiff opposition from political rival, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flag-bearer of the NPP.
Mr. Nkansah indicated that considering the massive infrastructural developments across the country, he is confident Ghanaians would retain Mills in power.
The Deputy Propaganda Secretary of the NDC took a swipe at the leadership of the NPP whom he claimed are enjoying all the luxury and living lavish lifestyles under their so-called ‘Bitter Ghana’.
Solomon Nkansah cited Samuel Awuku, a Deputy Communications Director of the NPP as a clear example of the manifestation of President Mills’ Better Ghana.
He said Sammy Awuku who in 2008 was slim despite his contribution to the erstwhile Kufuor government has gained weight tremendously under President Mills’ government.
Solomon Nkansah wondered why the NPP youth activist would criticize a government he says has changed his[Awuku]life in just three and half years.
He urged the NPP to give praise where it is due and stop the needless criticisms of government for political capital.
In a quick rebuttal, Abu Jinapor, aide to NPP flag-bearer Nana Akufo-Addo discounted Mr. Nkansah’s claim.
He said members of the NPP have worked tirelessly for everything they have hence Nkansah’s attribution of their well-being to the ruling government was flawed.
Abu Jinapor added that “a peace of mind does not come out of material things”.
