The New Patriotic Party says it will win more than 20 constituencies in the Northern Region which is considered one of the strong holds of the ruling NDC.
Northern Regional Chairman of the party, Alhaji Haruna Tia made the declaration, Thursday in an interview with Joy News’ Benjamin Tetteh.
The party currently holds three of the 26 constituencies in the region.
He said the huge crowd that turned out Wednesday for the party’s regional rally is enough testimony that the region was tired of the ruling party.
Tia added the party had never seen that kind of crowd before, not even in 2008 when the party was in power.
He said given the kind of work they have done, he was convinced the region will vote for the party come December 7.
Reacting to claims by the NDC that they built the Regional hospital and expanded the water facility in the region, the NPP chair, insisted it was ex-president Kufuor’s government that made funding available for the projects.
Benjamin Tetteh said the NPP campaign will be going to the Navrongo campus of the University for Development Studies, where the flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to outline his vision for job creation when elected into office.
The convoy however made a stopover at Walewale, the hometown of the Vice Presidential candidate of the party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, where a mini rally was held.
The campaign team is also expected to go to Bolga for another Regional Rally.
