The New Patriotic Party in the Eastern Region has threatened to forcibly arrest some NDC officials who misappropriated money given to them by government to cook for school children in Afram Plains.
They are first asking the government to arrest those known NDC executives who were given money to cook for school children under the School feeding program but failed to do so.
“We want to say that, government should arrest all the NDC executives who were involved in that malpractice, otherwise anywhere we meet these executives, we will forcibly arrest them and hand them over to the police,” communications director of the NPP in the Eastern Region Mr. David Prah warned.
Joy News recently uncovered some malpractices under the school feeding program at Afram Plains in the Eastern Region where some NDC Constituency executives were given contract to cook for school children but did not execute their part of the contract.
The New Patriotic Party believes government has not brought to book the contractors who took millions of the tax payers’ money and didn’t do the job.
“This is an avenue for corruption, government must arrest them or we shall exercise our constitutional mandate of citizen’s arrest,” he stressed a press conference in Akropong.
“The people of Ghana deserve better, the people of Eastern Region deserve better, we believe that the money should be used towards the development of the Eastern region and Ghana not to be stuck in the pockets of some unscrupulous NDC functionaries, we are not going to accept that,” Mr. Prah said.
The NPP also expressed worry over the increasing number of poor roads in the region.
They enumerated a number of roads including the Suhum- Asamankese road, Afram Plains Roads, Nkawkaw-Abirem Road, Nsawam- Aburi road, Anum- Apapamu-Kofi Pare road, Odumasi township roads, Asamankese- Adeiso- Nsawam, Asuboi- Apewawa, Tinkong- Amanfrom among a host of deplorable roads in the eastern region.
The NPP has charged government to be more responsible and fix the problems confronting the people of the Eastern region and desist from reckless and fruitless expenditure.
