The National Service Scheme (NSS) has initiated a recruitment drive for National Service graduates and unemployed youth to serve as volunteers for six months.
This decision comes in response to the high volume of applications received from the youth, as part of the NSS's efforts to tackle youth unemployment in the country.
In a statement released in Accra on Thursday, July 18, the NSS outlined that the recruitment will encompass a range of sectors, including sanitation, teaching, agriculture, and health.

The focus is on aligning these volunteer roles with the Government’s broader initiatives to promote environmental health and address critical sectoral needs.
The scheme aims to leverage the enthusiasm and skills of young volunteers to support various community and development projects.
By involving graduates and unemployed youth in these roles, the NSS hopes to provide meaningful opportunities while also contributing to national development goals.
“The recruitment will focus on various models including sanitation, teaching, agriculture, health and other sectors aligned with the Government’s efforts to promote environmental health, cleanliness, and sustainable development.”
“An online application system will be operational soon on the Scheme’s website to facilitate the selection process. We encourage you to spread awareness about this opportunity among potential candidates in your region/district and provide necessary guidance and support throughout the application process," the statement said.
