Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, is pushing for a lifetime ban from all football-related activities for former GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

In a petition filed by his lawyers, Cromwell Gray LLP, the journalist posits that the audio-visual evidence gathered by the TigerEye PI agency, led by himself, proved that Nyantakyi had breached several FIFA regulations and codes, actions that should definitely lead to a ban for life from the game.

The petition, as published by Myjoyonline, gives a chronological account of how the journalist managed to work undercover to enter Nyantakyi's inner circle, and pointed to the damning statements made by the former GFA President. The petition says:

1.3 We submit, by virtue of article 5 of the FIFA Code of Ethics that Mr. Nyantakyi’s conduct constitutes acts of commission done deliberately as an active participant in a scheme in breach or violation of articles 13, 15, 19, 20, 21, and 22 of the FIFA Code of Ethics, and articles 61 and 62 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

1.4 We submit that Mr. Nyantakyi should, as a consequence, be banned for life from taking part in any football related activity in pursuance of article 6.h of the FIFA Code of Ethics.

This petition is a follow up to the explosive documentary, 'Number 12', which has been on a nationwide premiering tour this week. The body of work exposes widespread corruption in football in Ghana.

Meanwhile, FIFA has already given the embattled football administrator a temporary 90-day ban, pending its own internal investigations. That decision strips him of all his positions, which include his member of the powerful FIFA Council, membership on the FIFA Associations Committee, First Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
