The National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) is embarking on a nationwide identification and accreditation of all Master Craft Persons (MCPs) to enable them undergo various skills upgrading training programmes to be awarded with a certificate of completion by the NVTI.
Due to the nationwide coverage of the exercise which is targeted at all artisans, NVTI is collaborating with the Informal Sector Development Foundation [IDEF GHANA] to register Independent Master Crafts Persons and apprentices to participate in the training.
In a statement signed by the Executive Director of IDEF Ghana, Richard Senyo Sumah, effort to protect the general public from sub-standard artisans, and to ensure quality training of apprentices in the Informal Apprenticeship Sector will be a success since the NVTI has made provisions ahead of the programme.
The statement said participants will be issued with signed identification cards and apprenticeship contract form so that they could be monitored.
It noted that data generated from the exercise would offer beneficiaries some support in the form of training and other government interventions from Metropolitan, Municipal, District Assemblies and other governmental skill delivery provisions.
IDEF Ghana and NVTI are therefore appealing to the general public especially, artisans to cooperate fully with their outfit when the time is due for the programme to commence in their regions.
"This would help participants to reap the benefits of the exercise", the statement said.
