A member of the legal team representing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta says his client will return to Ghana once he has fully recovered from surgery.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews' The Pulse on Monday, Frank Davies confirmed that the former minister is currently recuperating abroad after undergoing surgery, dismissing suggestions that he is evading the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Responding to questions about why Mr. Ofori-Atta has not yet returned to Ghana if he is indeed recovering well, the lawyer said his client’s current health condition prevents him from travelling.
“If somebody is recuperating, it doesn’t mean they can just leave America and come. He is still recovering from surgery. My client is recuperating and when he is fully fit and able, he will return to Ghana,” Mr. Davies emphasised.
Mr. Ofori-Atta, who is currently under investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, has been the subject of an Interpol Red Notice following allegations of corruption and financial misconduct during his tenure as Finance Minister.
