A former Local Government and Rural Development Minister in the erstwhile Kuffuor administration, Kojo Adjei-Darko has cautioned Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa to be wary of the comments he makes on the $1.5 billion Galloper saga.
The Deputy Information Minister was reported in state owned media, Daily Graphic as saying the recklessness of the NPP administration led to the accumulation of a $17 million cost on the 86 Gallopers jumping to $1.5 billion, as is being demanded by the African Automobile Limited.
However fresh information made available by a former Local Government Minister in the NDC regime who was responsible for the import of the controversial cross country Galloper vehicles, suggests government owed less than originally put out by government.
Professor Kwamena Ahwoi in a statement on the matter issued Wednesday said the government owed the equivalent of half a million dollars and not 17 million dollars as was claimed by Deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. A fact Mr. Ablakwa conceded.
However, speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Friday, the former Local Government Minister, Mr Adjei Darko said that young Ministers like Mr. Ablakwa must be cautious the way they wield the political power that they have been given.
He said that the Deputy Information Minister must endeavour to get his facts right before proceeding to accuse people of wrong doing.
