The Minister of Information has urged health facilities to call for Personal Protection Equipments (PPEs) if they have not received their consignment of the supplies.

He encouraged health workers to demand the PPEs, as the President is concerned about complaints from those who say they haven’t received the equipment they need in their line of duty.

“If you are in a hospital or health that has not yet received PPEs, you have to quickly call and let us know so that working with the military we can direct PPEs to you,” he announced.

According to him, the safety materials would be in the storage facility if the health workers do not call for them.

He further warned that the security services have been given specific instructions on how to execute their duty during the lockdown period hence there must be strict adherence to spelt out regulations.

“The police and military are under very clear instruction so you cannot go and throw your weight around,” he told JoyNews’ Emefa Apawu on Sunday.

Also related to the lockdown, the Ofoase Ayerebi MP explained that ministers and officials who are exempted from the lockdown will be issued passes that would enable them to pass through police barriers.

Three cities in the country, Tema, Accra and Kumasi are currently under partial lockdown following a declaration from the President.

This is part of the measures put in place by the government to prevent the transmission of coronavirus across the country.

Over 1000 people are in mandatory quarantine and are being tested after they travelled from affected countries.

Meanwhile, more people and institutions are piling pressure on the government to implement a total nationwide lockdown.
