Reverend Daniel Essan Kojo, also known as ‘Pastor Oboy’, was arrested at the Suame Magazine where he had allegedly sent the car, (Opel Vetra, Gt 8411) for repairs on Monday.
He was nearly lynched by a mob, but the police arrived in time to rescue him.
According to workers at the workshop, they noticed some blood stains on the car and became suspicious, but while they were questioning Rev. Kojo, his accomplice, identified as Kwabena Kwarteng fled.
The Police told the Ghanaian Times newspaper that the head pastor, of the church, Pastor Fredua Agyemang, had confirmed that the suspect is a pastor of the church.
The Tafo/Pankrono Divisional Police Commander, Adusah Poku, said Pastor Kojo and his accomplice hired a taxi to Yamfo, but between Abesim and Tanoso, they seized the car from the driver at gun point, after which they severely beat him up, tied his hands behind him, and dumped him somewhere.
The Pastor told the Times that he was influenced by Kwarteng who promised to give him GH¢500.00 to support his wife’s surgical operation on Wednesday.
