Black Satellites defender Patrick Asmah is on the verge of sealing a contract with French Ligue 1 outfit SC Bastia.
The young full back who was one of the brightest spots in Ghana’s abysmal Under 20 World Cup campaign in New Zealand earlier this year is expected to fly to France to sign the three year contract.
Asmah, a left back, was on the radar of local clubs Hearts and Kotoko after his side BA United were relegated to the second tier of Ghana soccer last season
But he has settled on a move to France as he will be hoping the move will be a springboard for him to play for the Black Stars in a few years to come.
Asmah will join Joanthan Mensah and Majeed Warris who currently play in the Ligue 2 and Ligue 1 respectively.
The last Ghanaian to play for Bastia was Michael Essien who went on to become a household name in Ghana and European football.
Other Ghanaians to have played in France include Jordan Ayew, Asamoah Gyah, John Mensah and Dede Ayew.
