A high court in Kumasi has sentenced a 20-year-old vulcanizer, Reindorf Jumah to 18 years imprisonment with hard labour for robbing an Areeba units transfer operator of his phone loaded with ¢800,000 worth of units.
Jumah pleaded guilty to the charges of conspiracy to rob and robbing.
Miss Hellen Kwawukume, Chief State Attorney, told the court that the complainant, Felix Osei-Wusu, was a former classmate of Jumah.
She said at about 0500 hours on January 31, this year, the convict conspired with one Kwasi Boabeng alias "Ntampem", now on the run, to rob the complainant of his Nokia 1100 phone at gun and knife point, when he was making a call in front of his house at Suame in Kumasi.
Osei-Wusu reported the case to the police and with the help of other people, Jumah was arrested at the Roman Hill in the township.
