Myjoyonline can confirm that suspected armed robbers shot four police officers at Zamarmra line in Korle Bu Saturday.
Gbedema Rudorf, Gbemu Thompson, Charles Dankwah, Nyamekye (first name withheld) and Ebenezer Danso were attacked at approximately 8:30PM. One officer is in critical condition. A 24-year-old man and an eldery woman have also been injured. All victims are currently being treated at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
According to reports, the officers arrived on scene to arrest the suspect for another offense, but he retaliated and sprayed bullets at the officers. The reason for the initial arrest is unknown. The suspect's name has been withheld.
Superintendent Kwasi Ofori and the Greater Accra Police Command Chief George Mensah are currently at the hospital where they are assessing the condition of the officers.
