Parents and guardians cut a look of frustration at the Independence Square in Accra for the second day where thousands have converged to secure placement for their wards into Senior High School (SHS).
They have converged in the wake of complaints that they had been wrongly placed by the Computerised School Selection Placement System (CSSPS) for SHS.
A student who was placed at his first choice school came to discover 48 hours later that his name had been removed. Others have found their names at schools they did not choose or at schools which parents say is inconvenient for their wards.
The system allows for students to also place themselves in a school if the computerised selection fails. But even that self-placement system has also failed.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) says its self-placement module was sabotaged by “bad” people resulting in the chaos with the 2019 SHS placement.
