It has emerged that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), between 2014 and 2016, procured prepaid meters and conductors worth over GH¢59million.
According to the 2020 Auditor-General’s Report on the audit of statutory boards and corporations, these 265 meters and conductors are still locked up in the company’s warehouse.
The Auditor-General, therefore, recommended that the Management of ECG ensures that the prepaid meters and conductors are issued out to the users or else recover the funds from the officers who engaged in the procurement.
Tonight on PM Express, host, Aisha Ibrahim together with her panelists, Edward Abambire Bawa, a member of Parliament's Energy Committee, former Chairman of Technical Committee of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), Ishmael Agyekumhene and Energy Analyst, Kwadwo Poku took a look into the loopholes in Ghana's power supply and suggested the appropriate remedy.
