Ashanti Regional police say they have made headways with the identities of four out of six suspected assailants believed to be behind the shooting of morning show host of Kumasi-based Kapital FM, Kojo Marfo.
The Police made this known at a news conference, Thursday.
Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor who was at that news conference said the Police have placed a GH¢5,000 bounty on the head of the suspects.
Kojo Marfo, and two of his friends were shot last month by unknown gun men off the main Obuasi-Kumasi road at Trede near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Mr Marfo, who is also son of the Regional Security Liaison Officer, was shot in both thighs while his friends also sustained severe gunshot wounds.
“Efforts are underway to arrest the armed robbers who were involved in the…robbery”, said DCOP Kofi Boakye, who also revealed that Baba Musa, Sadat Bawale, Nazir and 'Joe Crack' were involved in that robbery.
Meanwhile Police say they have also arrested three persons who are part of a car snatching syndicate in the region.
Police gave their names as Gideon Adetola, Stephen Addai and Anthony Gyamfi.
However, a fourth suspect, Ali Sulemana, is currently at large.
Explaining their modus operandi, DCOP Boakye said “suspects Gideon Adetola and Ali Sulemana normally hire unsuspecting taxi drivers from various places in the metropolis and say that they are taking you to Great Gadeoo [on the outskirts of the metropolis] and manage to snatch the vehicles from their victims sometimes at gunpoint and other times they use pepper spray”.
Police say they have also picked up four persons are part of a syndicate that facilitated the killing of a taxi driver at Kasoa Nyanyano and buried the body in a bush.
The four suspects are assisting police to identify where the body of the taxi driver was buried.
