Police in Brong-Ahafo arrest three robbers

The police in Brong-Ahafo have arrested three young men for alleged robbery.

Mohammed Iddrisu, a thirty-nine year-old car dealer, Nana Yaw Kyeremeh, 30, an illegal miner, and Eric Addae a.k.a "Dada", 38, a driver, allegedly broke into a warehouse in Sunyani on October 29 this year, and made away with GH¢100,000.00

Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani on Friday, Superintendent Alhaji Maama Arhin, Brong-Ahafo Regional Crime Officer, said the suspects would soon be arraigned before court for unlawful entry, robbery and attempted murder.

He said Nana Kyeremeh was arrested in Sunyani, while his accomplices were rounded up at their hideout in Kumasi.

Superintendent Alhaji Arhin said Nana Kyeremeh, who is a native of Sunyani, invited the two accomplices from Kumasi, adding that on the night of October 29, they broke into Chambees Company Limited in Sunyani and made away with the money.

He said the suspects parked the 4X4 Ford Escape vehicle they were using with a fake registration number AS 5105-14, in front of the warehouse, informed the two watchmen at post, Kwadwo Amankwaah 38, and Osei Bonsu 62, that the vehicle had developed a fault.

Superintendent Alhaji Arhin said the suspects gave the watchmen, who sympathized with them, some tea and fried eggs which they had allegedly laced with some tablets, and after they had eaten, they dozed off.

The suspects, however, broke into the warehouse and stole a cash safe containing the money and fled, he added.

Superintendent Alhaji Arhin said the suspects admitted to the crime and confessed to the police that they had shared the booty.
