A circuit court in Kumasi, on Monday remanded Michael Nyarko, a 31-year-old police constable, for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl school drop-out.
The accused, who was stationed at Bibiani in the Western Region pleaded not guilty and would reappear at the court on February 23, 2009.
He had already been dismissed from the Ghana Police Service because of the case.
Chief Inspector Alice Ansah, told the court presided over by Mr. Eric Baah that Nyarko in the company of other policemen left for the funeral of the late Chief Inspector Samuel Tawiah, at Kwaso in the Ashanti Region.
She said after the funeral all the personnel left for the Rural Development College at Kwaso to lodge there for the night.
Chief. Insp. Ansah said that at about 2100 hours that night, the accused sneaked to the town and met the victim and her junior sister sitting in front of their house and asked them to accompany him to the campus of the College and they obliged.
She said Nyarko asked the victim’s sister to leave them to enable him have a chat with her senior sister.
After the girl left the accused lured the victim into a room at the campus and forcibly had sex with her.
The prosecutor said, the accused kept the victim till the next day before allowing her to go home; she informed her relatives about the ordeal she went through and the accused was consequently arrested by the police.
Chief Inspector Ansah said he was charged and arraigned after investigations.
