Churches have been urged to pray for the accelerated economic growth of the country to attract foreign investors.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa,Emmanuel Adjei Doomson, asked them to impress on their congregations to dedicate themselves to God to shower more blessings on the country.
He said this would help the government to initiate sound and prudent programmes for the socio-economic advancement of the people to reduce poverty.
Mr Doomson was speaking at a three-day prayer meeting on the theme, "Ghana at 50 prayer summit" organized by the Breman Asikuma branch of the Alpha and Omega Bethel Prayer Ministry International, at Asikuma.
He stated that, "Unceasing prayers" would inspire some foreign investors to come to the country to establish businesses to create jobs and wealth for Ghanaians.
The DCE noted that through prayers and fasting by churches, the government had been able motivate some industrialized donor countries to express their desire to help Ghana to achieve economic stability to ensure good governance, freedom of speech and respect for human rights.
Mr Doomson said the pragmatic policies of the government had encourage many local and foreign investors to express their desire to establish businesses in the country and the district in particular to create jobs especially for the youth to reduce poverty.
He identified some of the policies as the School Feeding Programme and the Capitation grant, which had improved enrollment, the National Health Insurance Scheme to ensure quality healthcare and the Youth Employment Programme that had created jobs.
Apostle Prince Agyeman, Eastern Regional Area Head on behalf of the National Chairman of the Ministry advised Ghanaians not to grumble over the energy crisis and economic hardship but pray for the mercy and glory of God.
He charged Christians not to fear but to be prepared for tribulation and difficult situations and said religious organizations should pray for the economic and democratic development of the country to enhance the quality life of the people.
Elder Alvin Kwesi Andoh, Area Deacon, said the Ministry had plans to undertake educational projects to support the new education reforms announced by the government to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
He called on churches to embark on educational campaigns to educate their congregations on the re-denomination of the cedi to avoid falling into hands of fraudsters.
Elder Andoh who is also the Head of the Transport Section of the University of Education, Winneba, said officials from the Ghana Commercial Bank had been invited to educate members of the Ministry on the exercise.
He said that a youth forum would be organized for members in the Central Region on the need to be self reliant instead of relying on the government for jobs.
