Run away league leaders Asante Kotoko say they are not complacent ahead of a relatively easy game in Accra on Saturday against the struggling Mighty Jets which could wrap up a record 22nd league title.
Asante Kotoko has a 12 point lead with just 18 more available in the remaining six matches of the GLO premier league season. A win against Mighty Jets will spark early celebration of their first title success in four seasons as two more wins will be enough to cap a brilliant season.
Mighty Jets will be counting on their impressive home form against the Porcupine Warriors. Mighty Jets won last season’s match 2-0 in Accra and coach Jonas Amissah explains his team will be motivated by that despite Kotoko’s red hot form.
Hearts of Oak has given up on the league but plan a grand finish with six victories in their last six matches. Coach of the side CK Akunnor describes the last six matches of the season as six finals and Dwarfs will be their guest on Sunday.
Ashanti Gold is unbeaten in the second of the league and don’t have intentions throwing away that record in their home game against SC Medeama at the Len Clay Stadium. Ash Gold is in second place with 40 points following a turnaround in results at the start of the second round.
Berekum Arsenal hopes to move further away from the relegation by beating All Stars at the Golden City Park on Sunday. Arsenal is just one point above Mighty Jets in 14th place.
Tema youth will play host to Chelsea at the Tema Park and Bechem United host Liberty professionals at the Bechem Park.
Heart of Lions is just 5 points off the relegation zone in a season where the change of coaches from Paa Kwesi Fabien to Ken Auggust appears to have been a failure. At the Kpando Park on Sunday, Lions host Aduana Stars hoping for a win and Wassaman must beat New Edubiase at the Tarkwa Park to have any chance of avoiding relegation.
